Updated 3/6/25
NatureConnect Central Oregon will be assuming operations for Skyliner Lodge beginning on July 1, 2025, in partnership with High Desert ESD. We are in a period of transition, but will begin accepting reservations sometime in March. For all reservations that occur before July 1, please contact skyliner.coordinator@hdesd.org.
NatureConnect plans to continue the legacy of educational use at the lodge, prioritizing youth programs including field trips, summer camps, and more. We will also host private and commercial events at the Lodge, including weddings, celebrations, meetings, and workshops.
We are incredibly grateful to High Desert ESD for their innovation to develop this site as an educational space over a decade ago. We know that they have invested substantial time and resources to ensure that the facility is accessible to youth, and many programs have blossomed under their support. This solution is a collaborative way to ensure that kids can continue experiencing the magic that Skyliner Lodge has to offer.
We are currently fundraising for a new roof that is both fire resistant and retains the historic character of the building. We are waiting on several large grants and hope that the project occurs this summer. Please check back for updates. If you’d like to support this effort, please reach out to Katie Chipko at katie@natureconnectco.org.
NatureConnect is beginning to accept requests for reservations that occur after July 1, 2025. Please read the updated Rental Information here:

Skyliner Lodge is a community treasure in Central Oregon that has been a gathering place for outdoor recreation, education, and celebrations for decades. The lodge was built by crews working with the Works Progress Administration (WPA) and was completed in 1937. It was named for a local ski club known as the Skyliners Club, who ran a small ski area until 1957. Skyliner Lodge was entered into the National Register of Historic Places on June 13, 1978.
Over the past decade, the Lodge has become a popular venue for field trips, summer camps, meetings, weddings, and more. The lodge is used an average of 150 days/year for youth programs (field trips, summer camps) and supports students from across Bend-La Pine and Redmond School Districts. Additionally, the lodge has become a unique wedding venue over the last 10 years, averaging 35 weddings per year.
