My Nature Journal
There is so much to see and discover outside your door! From buzzing bees, to wildlife clues, from beautiful flowers, to tiny insects, the world is full of things to learn about and explore.
The Children’s Forest of Central Oregon developed My Nature Journal as a resource to encourage kids to explore the world around them and connect with nature. The 44 page journal has 21 self-guided activities, which can be done in any natural area – like a park, backyard, or nearby trail. The journal is organized in four sections including Getting Oriented, Exploring Your Senses, Learning About Nature, and Art and Reflection. My Nature Journal is intended for 3rd-8th graders, but is fun for any age, with parent support. The content is specific to Central Oregon, but many activities can be done anywhere.
Activities include:
- Questioning Nature
- Which Way is North?
- Animal Senses
- Zoom In, Zoom Out
- Identifying Conifers
- Observing Seasons
- Tracks Tell Stories
- Nature Haikus
- Land Art
- And much more!
