About Oregon Wild…
Oregon Wild is a non-profit conservation organization that works to protect and restore the wildlands, wildlife, and waters that make our state such a special place.
A typical day…
The intern will split their weeks, spending about half of their time with each organization. During days with Deschutes Land Trust, the intern will support their Nature Kids outreach events at Land Trust Preserves, and support outreach efforts like attending community events and helping with social media. During days working with Oregon Wild, the intern will help with educational hikes, community events, and developing content for social media and their blog.
Skills learned…
This individual will learn about two unique environmental non-profits, who each have a different approach towards a similar mission. Interns will gain experience with non-profit communication and outreach, developing writing, photography, and social media skills, as well as learning how to communicate with diverse audiences about key environmental issues in our community.
Schedule and other details…
The majority of work will occur Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm, but some evening and weekend work will be required. Deschutes Land Trust’s office is located in downtown Bend and Oregon Wild’s office is located on the west side of Bend.
Job requirements…
This intern must be 18 years old OR have access to a vehicle for occasional travel to Prineville and Madras. This job requires creativity, computer proficiency, strong communication skills, and an interest in taking action for the environment.
The team…
Deschutes Land Trust has 16 staff members. This position will work most directly with Mo Odell. Oregon Wild’s Bend Chapter has a small team, and the intern will work mainly with Sami Godlove. Learn more about them at deschuteslandtrust.org/about-us/staff and oregonwild.org/about/team/.
